面对灾难中的祖国, 海外学子用自己的点滴传递着祝福.

前言： 在上海的时候，很少会说[祖国]这个词语，除了作文里。然而没有任何时候比现在更想为我的[祖国]尽一份微薄之力。

Dear XXX,

Sorry to disturb you. As you many know, on May 12th,2008,a major earthquake measured 7.8(7.9 according to U.S. Geological Survey) on the Richter scale jolted Wenchuan Country,Sichuan Province in southwest China.The energy released in this earthquake approximated that of 362 bombs.

By Wednsday, May 14th, China's Ministry of Civil Affairs reported 14,866 casualties from the earthquake, which affected eight provinces and municipalities, and area approximately the size from Nebraska to Taxas in longitude,and from Indiana to Alabama in latitude in U.S. The number of casualities are still rising. The quake happened in the early afternoon on a weekday, many schools and kindergartens collapsed and buried thousands of school kids alive.

Rescue has been unprecedentedly difficult. Ground transportations to Wenchuan Country, the central area of the earthquake, are completely blocked as roads being smashed by by mountain collapses and landslides. Neither was airborne rescue possible due to the severe weather condition that followed the quake. It is reported that a team of
casualties has been reported in the fearless march.

With help from many local and international organizations, the Red Cross Society of China are provideing emergency relief assistance in the area. Food,water,tents and medical supports have been distributed but are far from meeting the immediate needs.

To help those whose lives have been greatly impacted by this earthquake, I would like to request Global XXX assistance to call on employees' donations through charity to be matched by the company.
