|Fordham University is truly a 'Princeton in the Bronx' with old collegiate gothic architecture, lovely pathways, and old New York charm that you won't find in the hustle and bustle of nearby Manhattan. The surrounding area of the Bronx itself is a quaint neighborhood lined with New York’s original ‘Little Italy’ district, small bars, restaurants, and the massive yet beautiful Botanical Garden next door. Fordham prides itself on it’s Jesuit heritage and history and you can see that with the numerous academic and residential halls named after the Jesuit forefathers such as St. Ignatius of Loyola and his contemporaries.
Education of course is also top notch at Fordham with most professors holding the highest degrees in their fields and small class sizes allow plenty of interaction between faculty and students. It is a relatively small university with a sense of traditional big school academics. However Fordham is becoming a recognizable force in the world of higher education and stands alongside it’s fellow city schools (New York University, Columbia) as being one of the best universities in the country.

Fordham is, in most regards, a wonderful school. What I perceive to be the best thing about Fordham is the collective sense of community. Truly, I saw most of the same people day in and day out, and felt like I was in a much smaller school. Pick your faculty carefully, and try and avoid graduate students. Every registration period, I deliberately choose the best professors available, not matter the date or time of the class. In my opinion, a great professor can make a dull class (like Faith and Critical Reason, a Freshman Core) a life changing experience. As with most big changes in life, people should approach entering college with an open mind. If you do, Fordham will return the favor and you will love it.

This is a great University. Top notch faculty, beautiful campus and New York City a short train ride away. It is expensive but in the end worth it.

I don't agree with many of the comments being posted on this page. Fordham is an excellent school and I am quite happy to be here. It seems like most people are complaining about the neighborhood- yes, we are in the Bronx. It is nothing like the small-minded white-washed suburbs that many of the students come from. It may be a culture shock at first, but it is a fascinating, diverse, great place. Just practice some precaution and you will be fine. Manhattan is quite accessible (by ram vam, metro north, or subway) and I usually go in a few times a week. Also, you must come in knowing that you have a two-year core to fulfill. Don't complain and moan through it- some of the classes are quite interesting, taught by excellent faculty members. Also, get involved with campus ministry or Global Outreach- you will meet some of the most fascinating people in your life and grow from it. Fordham is an excellent place and I am constantly thankful to be here.

Fordham University is such a great place to go to school! Enough can't be said about the excellent academics and the amazing student life on campus. The people i've met have become my best friends and all the students and professors i've met has been so friendly. Living in Queens Court has definitely been the best decision I've made other than deciding to come to Fordham. It has certain stereotypes, but who gives a shit what other people think?! If you're interested in living in a community style dorm then do it! Living in Queens Court you'll make the most out of your freshman year in college and make lasting friends. Don't listen to all the haters. They should have done a little bit more research before they came to Fordham then. But if you're really interested in the school, then come! They're aren't any hidden secrets, Fordham is what is says it is... and thats a frickin fantastic school!

I am in my second year at Fordham and I truly believe that it is a great place to go to school. The acedemics are exceptional. My professors have all been very intelligent and helpful, which makes the classes interesting and enjoyable. The social life is also pretty good, there are bars and off campus parties so there is always something to do. If you do not like to drink there are plenty of people who you can hang out with on campus. The area around the school is not so great, but the campus itself is safe as can be. Manhattan is also easy to get to, with the D Train right up the street and the ram van going to lincoln center every half hour. Fordham is a great school where you will learn a lot and also have fun. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to have a great college experience.

This is a great school. If I had to go back and choose again I would choose this again every time. Both my parents went here so I initially didn't even want to look at it, but once I went on a tour I fell in love with it. There are always things to do every night of the week. The campus is also one of the most beautiful that I have ever seen. I've only been here for two months and I already know its going to be a great four years.

Everyone who applies should understand that the majority of the student body is catholic school kids. Coming from a New Jersey public high school, it appears to me that everyone acts as if they are better than you. I had a friend visit me from Manhattan College, and he too says that he has never seen so many stuck up kids.

The school is absolutely amazing. Everything about it is great, but the best part of it is the proximity to Manhattan. Campus is very pretty, and the girls are too.

I am a Freshman at Rose Hill and I love it! The campus is gorgeous and a nice seclusion from the city, which is close enough to go to a few times a week. The core classes can be a bit tedious but I had some amazing teachers that sparked genuine interest. There is always a lot to do on campus and off, and there are always loads of parties on the weekends. The school's reputation has been skyrocketing the past few years and it is becoming more and more competitive. I am so happy that I chose Fordham!
